"Hic locus est ubi mors gaudet succurrere vitae." ("This is where death rejoices to teach the living.")

This Latin phrase is commonly found at morgues.  It is an excerpt from a quote by 18th century physician Biovanni Morgagni, who said, "Taceant colloquia. Effugiat risus. Hic locus est ubi mors gaudet succurrere vitae."  ("Let conversation cease.  Let laughter flee.  This is the place where death delights to help life.")  Other translations of the Latin phrase include "This is where death rejoices to help the living."  A more literal translation is "This is where death delights to help life."
